It's been one year since Bluebeam released its latest version, Revu 21, in September 2022. With this milestone, Bluebeam has now discontinued the sale of older versions. Bluebeam will no longer sell any new Perpetual licenses or maintenance. Not sure what to do? Don't worry, we are here to help you understand what that means for you.
Revu 21 is a different licensing model than previous versions
Until Revu 21 was released, Bluebeam was licensed as a Perpetual license, with annual maintenance, which entitled you to the new versions of software. User licenses were consumed on a per-machine basis, using one seat per machine.
Revu 21 has shifted to a named user Subscription model. It is now licensed per person, and assigned a Bluebeam ID [BBID]. Now each user will be assigned a seat, and they can use their login on up to 5 devices at once, adding flexibility to the license use. After September 2023, the only Bluebeam licenses available to purchase, will be Revu 21 subscriptions.
What to do if you have Revu 20 with maintenance
Anyone with current Revu 20 maintenance will need to convert to Revu 21 before their next renewal and is entitled to a free conversion program. Complete your renewal early to ensure no loss of access
It is important to note that Revu 21 does not offer a grace period, meaning that the software will stop working on the contract expiration date. You will want to renew your subscriptions in advance of your expiration date to allow for a buffer with order processing to ensure your term does not lapse. If your subscription term lapses, you may have to purchase new subscriptions and not renew at your discounted converted license price.
