Room Object Parameters

Overview

Use this method to add parameters to any Object Category. If these objects are Parameters they can be scheduled. If they can be scheduled, they can be exported in formats that Autodesk® FMDesktop can import.

Steps
  1. Access Project Parameters
  2. Create a Parameter
  3. Specify Category the Parameter Used With
  4. Edit the Parameter Value
Step 1 - Access Project Parameters
Select Settings -> Project Parameters, then Select Add...
Step 2 - Create a Parameter
To create the Parameter, give it a Name, Discipline, Type of Parameter, Group parameter under, and Instance or Type property.
Step 3 - Specify Category the Parameter Used With
See Figure Above. The Cost Center parameter has been associated with Rooms.
Step 4 - Edit the Parameter
The parameter Cost Center is now available to all Room Objects in the project.
Things to Consider
  • Adding parameters to objects in Revit a key component to storing information about an object.
  • If you would like objects to always have these Project Parameters, add them to your Project Templates.
