Our bags are packed and we’re heading to a city near you! This week kicks off the Fall Tech Tour, our half-day Autodesk user conference featuring Autodesk and CADD Microsystems technical experts presenting new and innovative ways to use Autodesk software. The tour includes stops in Raleigh, Richmond, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C., and features a great line-up of topics such as:

  • Using Revit with collaboration tools in the design process
  • Civil infrastructure workflows
  • Revit tips and tricks
  • How Navisworks, Infraworks, Recap, and Map 3D improve civil projects
  • New collaboration tools for Construction
  • BIM for Owners
  • Plus much more

Special Guest Speaker

This year, we have a special guest presenter speaking at the Raleigh, Richmond, and Baltimore locations. Jeff Bartels, a member of Autodesk’s Infrastructure Technical Specialist Team, will be presenting a 3-part series that demonstrates the value of Autodesk’s AEC Collection. His live demonstration explores how the AEC Collection helps firms tackle the many stages of an infrastructure project including Concept Planning, Preliminary Engineering, Project Approval, Detailed Design, and Value Add.

In the first part of the series, Jeff will lay the foundation for a land development project and demonstrate workflows to efficiently model a concept plan by aggregating GIS data, drone imagery, and conceptual geometry.

In the second session, he will explore workflows associated with Preliminary Engineering and exhibit creation. This session includes tips on how to save time by extracting data from scanned images, how to create custom 3D content for use in presentations, and how to create high resolution still images and animations.

In the final session, Jeff will walk through some helpful workflows in the Detailed Design phase. He’ll start by validating the drainage slopes of a proposed parking lot design and follow-up with the creation of a colorized cut/fill exhibit. The presentation will end with a demonstration on how to create a 3D virtual reality experience of an infrastructure design using a smartphone (example below).
