Autodesk recently updated its Account site with both a new design and some new functionality. While the overall structure of the site has not changed, the look certainly has. In this post, we’ll explore these changes so you can hit the ground running the next time you log in.

If you’re not familiar with the Autodesk Account site, it’s the central destination for managing nearly every aspect of your Autodesk software portfolio. It is the place to download your software, find the latest updates, generate a license file, control who can access software, and even report on cloud service usage. Suffice to say, it’s a critical tool for those responsible for managing software in their organization.

A New Look for Autodesk Account

The biggest change you’re likely to notice is the new look of the site. Replacing the former light-gray and white design is a design more consistent with other Autodesk web products like BIM 360. Although the overall structure of the site remains the same, the navigation bar on the left received some subtle structural changes along with a new dark gray background.

Updated Site Navigation

While the basic navigation structure remains unchanged, its presentation is simplified with this update. The two-column layout consisting of icons on the left and section-specific navigation along the right is replaced with a single menu that provides access to all sections from a single menu. I’ve quickly become a fan of this new layout as it allows me to get to the page I need with fewer clicks.

It’s a subtle change, but Autodesk did reorder some of the sections along the navigation menu. Before the update, the navigation menu was structured as follows:

  1. Products & Services
  2. Reporting
  3. User Management
  4. Billing & Orders

The new structure is as follows:

  1. Home
  2. Products & Services
  3. User Management
  4. Billing & Orders
  5. Reporting

As you can see, the sections we had in the previous version of the site are still there – just in a slightly different order. Another change you’ll notice is the addition of a new section named Home.

The New Homepage

One of the most significant additions to the Autodesk Account site is its new homepage. Upon login, the site will identify you as either an admin or user and display information personalized to you. Logged in as an admin in the image above, you can see Autodesk Account highlights the number of product updates released in the last month along with a summary of my recent purchases.

In addition to this personalized information, the Need Help section along the right side of the site provides links to popular support resources. Among the links in this list is one to AVA, otherwise known as the Autodesk Virtual Assistant.

If you’ve never used AVA, it’s a great resource to solve issues with activation, licensing, or even downloading your software.

Although there are some minor tweaks on the other sections of the Account website, all the functionality you’re familiar with is still there. You can read about all the changes introduced with this update on the Autodesk Knowledge Network page.
