BIM 360, being a cloud-hosted tool, has the flexibility to make updates and new features on the fly. Recently, we spotted the addition of a new in BIM 360 asset called the Data Connector, and frankly, we love data around here.
In order to leverage the Data Connector, a BIM 360 Build Entitlement is required and the User must have Executive Overview Access enabled.
To get to the Data Connector screen, navigate to Insight under Account Administration, and Click on the last tab titled DATA at the top.
Once there simply click RUN, the Light-Blue Button at the top Right of the window. Doing this will automatically extract the following information:
Admin data
- Activated services
- Business units
- Companies
- Projects
- Users
- Roles
Project data
- Checklists
- Cost
- Daily logs
- Issues
- Locations
- Submittals
The files come as separate sets in .csv format in a downloadable .zip. This information is meant to be used in Business Intelligence Tools such as PowerBI. Autodesk has even released a Power BI Template that reads your downloaded data and gives you some nice visualizations and reports.
The data that you generate in the Data Connector will remain downloadable for 30 days. This can be a fantastic way to use BIM 360 data for better insight into your Enterprise and Projects.
