Amar Hanspal - Future of making things
In the Keynote address, Amar talked about Modern digital technology and this is the coming of the 4th industrial revolution. It is Cloud computing and digital technologies that are a platform for building apps, programs, software, etc. that is connected at the source, Forge.
He talked about four stages of development:
- Concept
- Production
- Engagement
- Product
Jeff Bezos says the speed of growth is accelerated far beyond what was possible just a few years ago and this trend will just continue to evolve in a quicker fashion. Hardware is now cool in our society (think smart watches, Fit Bit devices, drones, Next thermostats, Go Pro's, Surface books, iPads, etc.) and hardware companies are up 76% YOY vs. software company's growth.
One quote that was very telling was "Transforming work, not just improving efficiencies" from Aaron Levie - Box Founder. Forge is a Web based, Micro Services platform that Autodesk has built in an environment for any type of building or design application.
