Conceptual Planning with Autodesk Infrastructure Modeler

CADD MicrosystemsFebruary 25th, 2013

Regardless if you’re part of the team designing a new building, or on the team designing the road to that building, today’s project teams must navigate accelerated project schedules at a time when public involvement is at an all-time-high. Although tools such as Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD Civil 3D can introduce new efficiencies to the design process, the public approval process is increasingly unpredictable as the number of stakeholders for a project continues to grow. For this reason great designs aren’t always enough, project teams must also do an exceptional job of telling the story of their designs if a project is to remain on schedule.

Accomplishing this has typically meant choosing between 2D exhibits that omit many important details of a design, or 3D visualizations that tell a more complete story, but historically take much longer to produce. This is the fundamental challenge Autodesk Infrastructure Modeler (AIM) looks to solve.

As options within both the Autodesk Infrastructure Design Suite and the Autodesk Building Design Suite, AIM lets you communicate your designs in the context of its surroundings. With AIM it’s possible to create immersive 3D visualizations in the time it would likely take to create a series of 2D exhibits for a project. To help demonstrate how this is possible, we have prepared a short video to introduce the core functions of Autodesk Infrastructure Modeler.
