A while back, we posted the blog Dynamo, Dynamo, Dynamo. But what version?
Shortly after that post, the very busy team at Dynamobim.org released version 2.0.1. Because of this, we wanted to update both the flowchart and version chart from our previous post. We also wanted to take a moment to discuss the Revit 2019.0.1 Hotfix, as it is equally important.
Revit 2019.0.1 Hotfix
The original shipping version of Revit 2019 had a major flaw for many add-ins. Without getting too technical, you could not use certain keys in the add-in as it would actually trigger the shortcut key within the main Revit interface. This included keys like "Esc" and "Del." Fortunately, Autodesk worked quickly to resolve this issue and fixed it with Revit 2019.0.1.We normally recommend that you use the latest version of the software, and in this case, it is especially true. Without the update, Dynamo is difficult, if not almost impossible to use.
You can download and install this update through the Autodesk Account Portal or the Autodesk Desktop Application.
Dynamo 2.0.1
This is a patch update for Dynamo. For the most part, they are all back of the house fixes. However, there are a few fixes that will affect all Dynamo users: Search works with special characters, the "File Path" node works with Dynamo Player, and the "PloyCureve.ByJoinedCurve" works again.Then there are some fixes for developers: Comments for inputs node inside of custom nodes are now saved in JSON format and view blocks now work within custom nodes. You can download this update from dynamobuilds.com.
So what version?
The below flowchart is a general recommendation. One thing I want to point out is that Dynamo 2.x still has limited package support. We are recommending people who are running Revit 2019 without Dynamo Scripts use Dynamo 2.0.1. That is because this version will be the most useful moving forward.
