Twelve Days of CADD Care (Day Four): Sharing Model Views

Matthew HarrakaDecember 6th, 2022

On the fourth day of CADD Care, the CADD team gave to me… How To Share Model Views

How to share model views (Currently in Open Beta), that is specific model views, directly to Autodesk Docs!

So why would you do this?

A lot of times other team mates, for instance out in the field, need to see certain views of a project. This may be certain floors, or maybe certain disciplines that need to be quickly referenced. Instead of having project personnel go in and condition their model every time they need to view it, these saved views allow for quickly jumping into those model conditions. Moreover, project staff can create them simply from  access to the BIM Collaborate tools & Docs in Autodesk Construction Cloud.

In my example I created a view of Structure & Mechanical with No Exterior Walls. This way my team in the field, or only using the cloud, can open the model and immediately start to look at what they need to without having to turn on/off elements. If we wanted to get even fancier, we could go in and create a view of every room or area that the teams will work in. By fully leveraging the Views feature and configuring the views that the different field teams will need, we can give them new insights more efficiently. This makes enablement that much more easier by demonstrating ease of use to those not familiar with leveraging models on a project.

Read all about Views, how to work with them, and how to publish to field from Autodesk.

Check back each day this week to see what the CADD team has in store for all Twelve Days of CADD Care.
